Josh Myers Recognized as Young Professional of the Year

Recognition Rooted in Real Impact

Please join us in congratulating Josh Myers for being named Young Professional of the Year in the Small Company Category at the Engage! Cleveland Generation NEXT Awards.

This recognition reflects what clients, collaborators, and students experience firsthand working with Josh: a steady commitment to hard work, mentorship, and long-term thinking.

At +Detail, we believe that strong design and architecture start with strong people. Josh’s leadership represents that belief.

Investing in the Next Generation of Design Leadership

For the past three years, Josh has served as an adjunct faculty member at Kent State University. He teaches second year design studio and mentors students well beyond the classroom.

Outside of the design studio, he guides students through extracurricular competitions, shares real-world insight into professional practice, and supports them in pivotal career decisions from graduate school applications to their first professional roles.

“The young design professionals that I am around, we’re all a hungry bunch, we’re all scrappy, and I think it’s something that makes the design community in Cleveland really unique,” Josh shared. “It’s just really exciting to be a part of that and to be honored with this award.”

That collaborative, community-focused energy strengthens Cleveland’s design culture and foreshadows a bright future of thoughtful, human-centered architecture.

Mentorship as a Standard of Rigor

Inside +Detail, Josh’s leadership is visible in clear, practical ways.

In complex healthcare and behavioral health environments, design carries heightened responsibility. Documentation accuracy, systems coordination, material performance, and long-term durability all matter. His mentorship plays a key role in maintaining these standards.

Josh ensures that emerging professionals are actively involved in various stages and aspects of projects. They do not simply observe; they contribute in ways that build capability and confidence. He provides thoughtful feedback, shares lessons learned, and welcomes questions that deepen understanding.

Onboarding new team members is approached with intention. From explaining workflows to introducing project standards and expectations, Josh helps create clarity from day one. That consistency leads to better outcomes not only within the team, but also for the clients and communities we serve.

His genuine passion for mentorship is inspiring and helps maintain a high standard of quality in our work.

Strengthening the Profession Through Community

Josh encourages students and young professionals to engage with the broader design community, including organizations such as AIA Cleveland.

By making  connections and instilling accountability early in their careers, he reinforces the discipline and collaboration our profession demands.

For emerging designers seeking meaningful work in complex, human-centered environments, mentorship like this is critical. It creates a culture where growth is supported and responsibility is an ambition.

Culture That Builds Trust

Awards are milestones, but they are not the endpoint.

Josh’s recognition affirms what we already know: investing in people strengthens the work itself. When team members feel supported, challenged, and empowered, design outcomes improve. Clients notice it. Partners recognize it. Communities benefit from it.

This is how +Detail builds trust: through strong relationships, design rigor, and consistent performance.

We are proud to celebrate this well-earned achievement, and even more proud of the leadership Josh continues to demonstrate every day.

Congratulations, Josh! We cannot wait to see what happens next.
